CHEMICAL ENGINEERING The UCL Department of Chemical Engineering ranks 24th Globally within QS World University Rankings for Engineering - Chemical 2022 | Top Universities and is one of the top research and teaching Chemical Engineering Departments within the United Kingdom, with the latest Research Evaluation Framework (REF 2021) demonstrating that 97% of our submission rated as either “world leading” (4*) or “internationally excellent” in the Engineering Unit of Assessment at UCL. Research | UCL Department of Chemical Engineering - UCL – University College London. Research constitutes the majority of departmental activity with 75% of staff rated as world leading or of international excellence.
The department hosts the Centre for CO2 Technology, which is the hub of energy and CO2 technology development in the department and the focus for energy research at UCL. The department is currently excelling in fuel cell research and won the frontier-engineering award to open a £5m centre for ‘nature inspired chemical engineering’.
